GPA Conversion Tools: CGPA, SGPA & Percentage

Choose a conversion method that matches your institution’s rules.

There is no universal percentage-to-GPA formula

Two institutions can assign different grade points to the same percentage. A linear conversion between 10-point and 4-point scales is a mathematical rescaling, not necessarily an accepted academic conversion.

What to check on your transcript

Look for the maximum scale, pass mark, grade boundaries, and an institution-issued conversion formula. For applications, follow the receiving institution’s instructions. Do not replace original marks with an unofficial conversion unless requested.

Combining semesters is different from converting scales

SGPA to CGPA usually means combining grade-point averages using GPA-counted credits. For 8.0 over 20 credits and 9.0 over 10 credits, the combined result is (160 + 90) ÷ 30 = 8.333. It is not the unweighted average of 8.5.
