Class grade or semester GPA?
A class grade combines work inside one course, usually as a percentage. A semester GPA combines your final course grades, weighted by credits. These are different calculations.
Find the right denominator
For a points-based class, divide earned points by possible points. For a category-weighted class, multiply each category average by its syllabus weight. Do not treat an ungraded assignment as a zero unless your instructor does.
Plan a final exam
If your current grade is 85%, the final is worth 30%, and you want 90% overall, you need 101.67% on the final. The final-grade tool identifies this as above the normal maximum instead of promising an achievable A.
